Take 2 Radio, in partnership with Sunday Edition, welcomes acclaimed actress, director, producer, and activist Rosanna Arquette for a candid conversation spanning more than four decades of film, family, creativity, friendship, and advocacy.
Rosanna reflects on growing up in an extraordinary artistic family. Both of her parents were in the business, and creativity was woven throughout the Arquette household.
She shares some of her earliest artistic influences, including seeing The Red Shoes as a young child and dreaming of becoming a ballerina.
Rosanna also takes us back to early in her career and shares memories of working with the legendary Bette Davis. She reflects on their friendship and the lasting influence he continues to have on her life.
Of course, no conversation with Rosanna would be complete without Desperately Seeking Susan. She shares memories of working with Madonna and director Susan Seidelman, and talks about the bond she and Susan formed through the film that continues today. Rosanna also remembers celebrating the 40th anniversary of Desperately Seeking Susan with Susan in Italy last year and reflects on the remarkable life the film has had across generations.
The conversation turns to the Arquette family. Rosanna explains that she and her siblings generally do not spend much time talking about their work when they are together, but her pride in them is unmistakable. She reflects on Patricia Arquette, David Arquette, and Richmond Arquette, as well as the late Alexis Arquette.
Rosanna remembers Alexis with particular love and pride, honoring her work and advocacy for transgender people and the broader LGBTQIA plus community.
Rosanna is equally candid about her own career behind the camera. She discusses directing and producing Searching for Debra Winger, her acclaimed documentary exploring the complicated choices, pressures, expectations, and realities faced by women working in Hollywood.
