Sometimes a song entertains us. Sometimes it makes us think. And sometimes it manages to do both while delivering a message that needs to be heard. 🎤🎶❤️

I’m Blind I’m Not Deaf takes on some of the assumptions, awkward interactions, and frustrating moments that blind and low vision people experience every day.
A white cane does not mean someone needs you to raise your voice. 🦯
A blind person sitting at a restaurant table can order their own meal. 🍽️
A blind patient walking into an office can answer questions about their own appointment. 🩺
And blindness does not erase a person’s voice, intelligence, independence, personality, or ability to speak for themselves.
The message is simple.
I’m blind.
I’m not deaf.
Talk to me. ❤️
Weevie wrote these lyrics because she wanted herself and her fellow members of the blind and low vision community to be heard, while giving the sighted community an opportunity to listen, learn, and perhaps reconsider some everyday assumptions.
Then she used artificial intelligence to help turn those words into music. 🤖🎶
And that makes I’m Blind I’m Not Deaf a perfect preview of something brand new coming to Sunday Edition.
